Sleeping Beauty in rhymes.

Today i was effortlessly *trying* to clean up my outrageously filthy bedroom when I found a stack of old papers stuck on the very back of my study desk. Flicking through the dusty, yellowing pages of what apparently was left of my English school project back in Melbourne, I found a collection of poems i wrote for an 8th grade assignment. Reminiscing the old times, I'm starting to think that they were the first literature piece I've ever written, which might also triggered my growing enthusiasm for literature.

Among the assigned poems, there was one where we were suposed to write a rhyming stanza based on a fairy tale. As cheesy and crappy as it might be, surprisingly i got the highest mark in my class :D (oh please, what can you possibly expect from a bunch of free-flowing 8th graders)

The Sleeping Beauty

One night when the silence was torn
A beautiful princess was torn

The King and Queen held a Celebration
They invited people from every nation

Out of the guests, there were three good witches
They liked to eat peaches

The first and second witches gave the princess a good spell
Suddenly, an evil witch came without ringin the bell

The King and Queen were very shocked
Because the gates were already locked

The evil witch gave the princess a curse
That at the age of 16, she will need a hearse

After she's gone, the third good witch gave the princess her pitch
Although she couldn't cancel the curse of the evil witch

She wished that the princess would be asleep for a hundred years
Instead of dying in front of her 16 years old peers

Only a true love kiss could awaken her
Given by a young handsome prince wearing a fur

A hundred and 16 years later
(And the sleeping princess hadn't grown fatter)

A kind and handsome prince came
He rode on a white horse glittering with fame

In a tower, he found the princess sleeping on her bed
Instantly he knew that she wasn't dead

His heart began to shatter
And after he kissed her, they lived happily ever after

cute, ain't it? ^_^
